Structural Plans Processor (Regulatory & Economic Resources)

Minimum Qualifications

Must possess a current State of Florida Professional Engineer license by examination under the structural discipline OR applicants who were licensed as a Professional Engineer by examination under the civil/structural or civil/structural/sanitary categories on or before March 1, 1993. Five years of post-licensure experience as a structural engineer with responsibility for the design of building structures, practicing a minimum of two years in a High Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ) is required. Completion of an eight-hour HVHZ training course approved by the Board of Rules and Appeals may substitute for the required HVHZ experience.

This is advanced professional engineering work in the examination of complex construction plans for building construction projects.

Employees in this class are responsible for examining commercial and residential construction permit plans to determine structural integrity and compliance with requirements of the Florida Building Code and other applicable codes and regulations.

All applicants must be eligible for certification by the Miami-Dade County Board of Rules and Appeals as specified in Chapter 8 of the Code of Miami-Dade County. Certificate and/or license must be in good standing with Miami-Dade Countys Contractor Licensing and Enforcement Section, and/or the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, and/or Florida Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board with no pending complaints. Applicants qualifying for employment will be subject to extensive background screening. Applicants holding an active certificate will be required to inactivate their certificate at their own expense upon employment.

This position is eligible for a $770 bi-weekly pay supplement that equates to approximately $20,000 annually over a 26-pay period cycle.
