Structural Steel Fabricator

gpac, a recruiting firm with 30+ years in business, is partnered with a well-established company in the structural steel and metals fabrication industry in the Boston, MA area. Our client is seeking a skilled Welder / Fabricator to fit, weld, and fabricate structural and miscellaneous steel.

STEEL INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED: candidates must have hands-on welding/fitting experience in structural steel or miscellaneous/ornamental metals fabrication or erection.

Position Responsibilities:

- Fit, weld, and fabricate steel parts and assemblies

- Follow drawings, safety, and quality standards

- Work with fitters, welders, and the quality team

- Maintain tools, equipment, and work area

- Meet production goals

Position Essential Job Functions:

- Read shop drawings and weld symbols

- Lay out, cut, fit, and tack parts

- Perform MIG, flux-core, and/or stick welding to WPS requirements

- Use grinders, saws, drills, and torches; operate cranes and forklifts safely

- Inspect your own work for accuracy and quality

Position Skills:

- Required: 2+ years of experience in the structural steel or metals fabrication/erection industry

- 2+ years of structural steel fabrication or welding experience

- AWS D1.1 certification preferred or ability to pass a weld test

- Ability to read shop drawings and weld symbols

- Overhead crane and forklift experience a plus

- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
