    Job Description

    The Student Administrative Aide I supports the daily operations of the School of Science and Engineering by performing a variety of clerical, administrative, and customer service functions. The student employee assists with office management, data entry, event support, recordkeeping, communications, and marketing activities that contribute to the efficient operation of the School. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively with faculty, staff, and fellow students.

    • Currently enrolled student at Tulane University.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple assignments.
    • Demonstrated professionalism and customer service orientation.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Previous administrative, office, or customer service experience preferred but not required.
    • Experience with social media platforms and basic marketing or graphic design tools is preferred but not required.
    • Must meet all university requirements for student employment eligibility.

    Please note: The School of Science and Engineering employs multiple Student Administrative Aides. Individual assignments may vary, and not all student employees will be responsible for every duty listed below. Responsibilities will be assigned based on departmental needs, office priorities, student skills and experience, and supervisor discretion.

    • Provide administrative and front desk support to faculty, staff, students, and visitors.
    • Answer phones, monitor email communications, and respond to routine inquiries.
    • Perform data entry, filing, scanning, and records management tasks.
    • Assist with scheduling meetings, preparing materials, and coordinating events.
    • Maintain office supplies and assist with department mail distribution.
    • Update spreadsheets, databases, and departmental documents as needed.
    • Create and assist in the development of social media content, marketing materials, and promotional communications to support School of Science and Engineering programs, events, and initiatives.
    • Support special projects and other duties assigned by supervisors.
    • Maintain confidentiality of student and departmental information.
    • Assist with student engagement activities and School-sponsored events.
