Summary:

As a Student Affairs Desk Assistant within the Student Affairs Suite at Maryville University, individuals in this role will assist and support the day-to-day operations of the Student Affairs Suite and its staff. This position involves providing a professional, helpful, and welcoming atmosphere for faculty, staff, students, families, and visitors, as well as assisting with various administrative and event-related tasks. Students will gain valuable experience in customer service, project management, and general office duties.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide a professional, helpful, and welcoming atmosphere for faculty, staff, students, families, and visitors to the Student Affairs Suite (located in the Donius University Center)
  • Greet customers on a regular basis and assist them with various needs
  • Answer phone calls and transfer to the appropriate office/staff member
  • Ensure the Student Life Suite is always neat and orderly
  • Support all professional staff housed within the Student Affairs Suite and Center for Student Engagement & Belonging at all times including but not limited to the Vice President for Student Affairs, Dean of Campus Life, Dean of Student Wellness, and Chief of Staff
  • Assist with various event programming tasks
  • Maintain organization and inventory of Student Affairs Suite items in storage
  • Assist with campus events when schedule allows
  • Deliver documents and materials across campus as needed
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Organized, detail-oriented, can work independently, and take initiative
  • Problem-solver and team player
  • Must maintain confidentiality

Physical Demands:

  • On occasion may be asked to lift boxes or organize basement storage.

Skills Required:

  • Strong time management skills, knows how to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Positive customer service skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and Canva, preferred GetInvolvedMU skillset

Position Pay: $15/hr

Hours per week: 10 hrs

Start Date: 08/24/2026

End Date: 05/08/2027

NOTE: Applicants must be work study eligible and have a work study award in their financial aid package to apply for this position.
