The position is located at the SHSU-COM campus in Conroe, TX, and the salary is $12 per hour.

Preferred Student Classification

Freshman or sophomore. The position is located at the SHSU-COM campus in Conroe, TX.

Nature & Purpose of Position

The selected Student Assistant will report to the Office of the Dean. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Sort and distribute mail and packages.
  • Keep the front desk area clean and organized.
  • Assist with various administrative tasks, including photocopying, scanning, and shredding.
  • Run on-campus and off-campus errands as required.
  • Assist with organizing supply closets and meeting rooms.
  • Set up tables and chairs for events and reset furniture in rooms as needed.
  • Help set up catering for events.
  • Be a reliable source of information about the organization and department for visitors.
  • Maintain a positive, upbeat, and professional attitude when interacting with others.
  • Greet visitors and direct them to the appropriate location or person.
  • Process request forms and data with supervision and monitor the shared inbox.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as necessary to support the team.

Other Requirements for the Position

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries in a professional manner.
  • Physically capable of lifting 25-50 ibs
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. Must be organized, task-oriented, and punctual.
  • Professional demeanor.
  • Preferred experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Applicants must be available to work 6-8 hours per day on assigned days. We will work around the student's class schedule.
