Job Summary

ROAR Leaders (Recruitment, Orientation, Admissions, and Retention Leaders) serve as premier student leader representatives of Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) and play a vital role in welcoming, informing, and supporting prospective, admitted, and newly enrolled students and their families. As members of the Office of New Student Connections, ROAR Leaders help create engaging and memorable experiences through campus tours, recruitment events, orientation programs, outreach initiatives, and enrollment-related activities. ROAR Leaders are expected to demonstrate exceptional customer service, professionalism, leadership, school pride, and a commitment to student success. Through peer-to-peer engagement, ROAR Leaders help students and families navigate the transition to college while showcasing the opportunities, resources, and community that make GGC unique.

All ROAR Leaders are required to fully attend, participate in, and work during all scheduled training sessions, set up days, and events. While events are year-round, peak season is April-August. ROAR Leaders are expected to work during the Spring/Summer peak time as it is critical to this role.

Employment & Training will begin January 2027 and attendance at the retreat on January 8-9, 2027 (or other date as required), is mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Represent Georgia Gwinnett College at recruitment, enrollment, orientation, and student engagement events both in-person and virtually.
  • Conduct campus tours for prospective students, families, school groups, and special guests.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource regarding academics, student life, campus resources, support services, and the student experience.
  • Lead small group discussions, icebreakers, presentations, and student panels.
  • Assist with Preview Days, Admitted Student Days, Grizzly Orientation, family programs, and other onsite and offsite events.
  • Welcome guests, provide wayfinding assistance, manage check-in processes, and support customer service operations.
  • Support event planning and logistics including setup, breakdown, transportation of materials, and operational execution.
  • Collaborate with professional staff, student employees, and campus partners to ensure successful event experiences.
  • Participate in outreach efforts including phone campaigns, social media initiatives, student
  • testimonials, and content creation.
  • Maintain a positive, professional, and inclusive environment that supports student belonging and engagement.
  • Stay informed about GGC programs, services, policies, and opportunities.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and initiative in fast-paced environments with changing priorities.
  • Operate golf carts in accordance with college policies.
  • Assist with the recruitment, mentoring, and training of future ROAR Leaders as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Enrolled in minimum of six credit hours at Georgia Gwinnett College. There may be an exception for SUMMER semester.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and maintain GPA for the duration of employment.
  • Must be in good standing and maintain good standing for the duration of employment.
  • Must be in good conduct standing with Georgia Gwinnett College and maintain good conduct for the duration of employment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management abilities.
  • Comfortable speaking to individuals and groups of varying sizes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn about GGC enrollment processes, academic programs, student resources, and campus services.
  • Ability to work virtual events and presentations.
  • Ability to walk, stand, lift materials, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions for extended periods during events.
  • Commitment to representing GGC with enthusiasm, pride, integrity, and professionalism.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least one academic calendar year remaining at GGC following initial date of employment.
  • Previous leadership, mentoring, peer education, customer service, or event experience.
  • Participation in student organizations, athletics, honors programs, internships, or other campus involvement.
  • Experience with public speaking, presentations, or tours.
  • Familiarity with GGC programs, services, and student life.
  • Valid Georgia Drivers License or willingness to obtain one before the start of the primary event season.
  • Interest in serving as the GGC mascot, General, during select events.
