Nature & Purpose of Position

The SHSU Workforce Ready Kats Program (Community Work-Study) is seeking work-study eligible students interested in working out in the local community.

This program is designed for you to be immersed in a community organization and learn what it means to work in a non-profit or government workplace setting. This work-based learning opportunity will connect you with a network of local leaders and community members. You will develop career skills for your resume and contribute to the public good.

Workforce Ready Kats Program is an OFF-CAMPUS position, meaning you will work at the organizations location. This is not an on-campus job, so you will need a reliable form of transportation to be able to work on-site at the location.

Other Requirements for the Position

The placement requires you to:

  • Be a full-time, degree-seeking student and meet Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements.
  • Be willing to work at the partner organization for at least one academic semester.
  • Work a minimum of 10 hours per week.
  • Have your own form of reliable transportation to the partner organization.
  • Participate in all of the mandatory WRK program's professional development sessions.
  • Be reliable, flexible, professional, and eager to learn.
