Assist licensed nursing or OT/PT staff in delivering therapeutic group activities designed to improve balance, strength, and mobility in high fall-risk residents and patients
Lead and facilitate structured exercise groups including seated exercises, balance activities, and gentle movement programs under clinical supervision
Engage residents in fine motor activities such as crafts, puzzles, and games that support coordination and cognitive engagement
Assist with documenting participation in accordance with department guidelines.
Support staff in preparing materials, equipment, and activity spaces for therapeutic programming.
Encourage resident participation and provide one-on-one support during group activities as appropriate.
Observe resident responses to activities and communicate concerns or observations to supervising clinical staff.
Assist with data collection and tracking of program participation, outcomes, and attendance.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of activity supplies and equipment.
Participate in training sessions, and educational opportunities related to fall prevention and resident wellness.
Support interdisciplinary team initiatives focused on resident safety, mobility, and quality of life.
Qualifications:
Current enrollment in a program related to Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Public Health, Nursing, Healthcare Studies, Gerontology, or a related field preferred.
Interest in working with older adults in a healthcare or long-term care setting.
Ability to follow instructions and work effectively under the supervision of licensed clinical staff.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and resident privacy requirements.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Comfortable engaging with individuals who may have physical, cognitive, or sensory limitations.
Hours of Position:
Flexible schedule arranged with the supervisor around the student's class schedule; hours may vary based on department needs and approved events
