Diploma or General Education Degree or equivalent RequiredBachelor's Degree in related field PreferredExperience Qualifications:5 years in an office/clerical environment RequiredExperience in a school system PreferredSkills Qualifications:Ability to communicate with others in an effective and tactful mannerExcellent skills in organization and time managementAbility to manage multiple prioritiesAbility to work as an effective team memberAbility to represent Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) in a positive and professional mannerStrong computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programsPrimary Responsibilities:Responsible for assisting in the implementation of the community-based mentoring program to provide best practices to identified students in support of their mental health and well-being in the local schools.Essential Job Duties:Recruit, develop, and train volunteer mentors for the Community-Based Mentoring program.Utilize best practices for evaluating and matching volunteer mentors with identified students with a focus on students' mental health and well-being at the local schools.Plan, develop, and implement effective mentoring practices for mentors, students, and parents.Utilize technology to communicate to mentors, students, parents, and community organizations about the Community-Based Mentoring program.Assist with the recruitment of community-based mentors and program development initiatives.Establish and maintain positive relationships with external organizations.Complete special projects as needed by supervisor. Assist with securing additional resources as needed.Provide mentorship to students in small groups or one-on-one at identified schools. Communicate with parents and local school staff as needed.Provide a monthly summary report for each school.Conduct interviews with applicants interested in becoming volunteer mentors. Keep track of progress, including number of interviews conducted, declined, no response, etc.Utilize database(s) to monitor applicants' progress through the various stages. Provide support to Assistant Directors for matching as needed.Assist staff with planning and implementing program activities and events.Perform other duties as assigned.
