Job Description Summary

Student Radiology Technologist Job Duties Student radiology technologists will aid with imaging exams. She assists with diagnostic exams, performs clerical duties including record keeping, and maintains high-quality services. Communicates effectively with patients, families, and all care providers.

Should be actively enrolled in an accredited Radiology program.

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs all diagnostic routine procedures, minor trauma, fluoroscopy, minor surgery, and routine studies
  • Acquires requisition and checks for appropriate clinical
  • Obtains appropriate supplies and prepares room for patient
  • Access patients condition and level of cooperation and makes appropriate judgment of proper care
  • Notifies nurse and charts all infiltrates and reactions
  • Quality check films before sending to radiologist to include markers all pertinent information needed for appropriate dictation
  • Writes additional information on request as needed
  • Keeps room cleaned and stocked at all times
  • Responds to codes and other emergency situations appropriately
  • Explains procedure to patient and introduces self and identifies department
  • Informs patients and families of all delays, including calling inpatients room when procedure is delayed more than 1 hour
  • Assist other technologists when not busy in assigned area
  • Charges procedure and supplies when exam is completed
  • Adds surgical charges when needed
  • Operates the PACs system appropriately and verify studies before sending to archive
  • Reports equipment problems to supervisor in-charge tech and documents confirmation numbers
  • Maintain student confidentiality

Student Radiology Technologist Transition to Radiology Technologist

Upon completion of the ARRT radiology registry, a promotion will be awarded from a student tech position to a vacant radiology technologist position. The promotion wage increase will be based on passing the radiology tech registry. Benefits and sign-on bonus will also be awarded if eligible based on position.
