About e2i:

Education 2 Impact (e2i) offers students the opportunity to work within interdisciplinary teams while gaining paid, hands-on experience. Projects are provided by companies or entrepreneurial UVU students, and teams are assembled to work under the guidance of a student project manager to complete these projects-mirroring real-world industry practices. Each project typically lasts between 8 and 12 weeks, giving team members a condensed, high-impact professional experience.

The e2i program is seeking motivated Software Development Team Members to support real-world client projects. Team members contribute across the software development lifecycle, including front-end, back-end, full-stack, and quality assurance (QA) work. Youll collaborate with a cross-functional, interdisciplinary team under the guidance of a student project manager to design, build, test, and deliver working software to industry standards. Team members will be paid $15 per hour.

Specific assignments will be matched to your strengths and interests. The Supplemental Questions below help us identify where youre the best fit.

Summary of Responsibilities

Responsibilities vary by project and specialization, and may include:

  • Front-End: Building responsive, accessible user interfaces and translating designs into functional code.
  • Back-End: Designing data models and APIs, implementing business logic, and documenting technical requirements.
  • Full-Stack: Integrating front-end and back-end components, including authentication and third-party service integration.
  • QA: Writing test plans, performing usability and validation testing, and delivering clear feedback reports.
  • All roles: Collaborating across specializations to keep work in sync, applying version control and documentation best practices, and communicating progress and blockers clearly to the team

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

About Company

Utah Valley University was established in 1941 as Central Utah Vocational School (CUVS) with the primary function of providing war production training. CUVS was part of the Provo School District located in south Provo. The institution received a state appropriation in March 1945 of $50,000 to operate for the 1945-1947 biennium. In 1947, the school received funding as a permanent state institution. A new site for the school was acquired on University Avenue in Provo in 1948; in the 1952, the state appropriated funding for the first construction on that site. As enrollments grew, the state acquired over 185 acres in southwest Orem and the first building was completed in 1977. Today, the University’s facilities consist of a combined total of 412 acres with 50 buildings with campuses in Orem, Provo, and Heber City and property in Vineyard and at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi.
