Summary: Reports directly to the Student Support Services Director and provides English and writing tutoring to Student Support Services participants in individual and group settings.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide group and/or individual tutoring on an appointment or walk-in basis;
Assist in the development of study skills necessary for successful course completion;
Maintain accurate and current documentation of participant contact and progress;
Establish a high degree of rapport with participants from various backgrounds and with a variety of learning styles;
Conduct workshops on topics related to area(s) of expertise;
Provide a friendly atmosphere that is conducive to the success of SSS participants;
Maintain a professional attitude and demeanor with participants at all times;
Encourage students to become independent learners by suggesting effective study tools;
Participate in trainings as required;
Provide office assistance as needed;
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
A minimum of an Associate's Degree and at least a 3.0 GPA in the subject(s) tutored will be required;
Effective verbal and written communication skills; and
Responsibility, a desire to help others, and a willingness to be flexible in scheduling tutorial sessions will be required.
