Position Location:

This postion is based in Chesapeake, VA and will require travel up to 50% CONUS/OCONUS.

Job Overview:

The role of the Subject Matter Expert is to provide advanced technical knowledge, and onsite depot level support services for HF/UHF communication equipment as defined by the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC-LANT) Atlantic In Service Engineering Agency ISEA. Support services include system technical operation, system configuration, preventative maintenance, overhaul, repair and assistance with configuration management. Provide shipboard technical support as required.

Responsibilities:

Essential Job Duties:

  • Provide technical support to diagnose, repair and overhaul a variety of communication equipment and ancillaries.
  • Responsible for the operation, maintenance, repair and overhaul of US Navy communications equipment.
  • Provide support for repair alignment and maintenance.
  • Strong customer service skills to interface directly with prime customers and other industry partners.
  • Provide support to NIWC for Litoral Combat Ships Exterior communication line of sight and SATCOM
  • Capable to travel to CONUS / OCONUS locations to support ISEA requirements.
  • Capable of going shipboard to support ISEA communication requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • We expect this employee to be familiar with Navy communications, switching.
  • Must have the ability to operate, troubleshoot and repair US Navy radio systems for HF and UHF with a focus on Digital Modular Radio (DMR) and or ARC-210 family of radios.
  • We expect the employee to provide system engineering assistance for life cycle support sustainment and modernization support.
  • Must be familiar with test instruments and their application to communications systems.
  • Be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Job Requirements:

Mandatory:

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Must have SECRET Security Clearance.
  • High School Diploma
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Must have experience with radio voice and data communication equipment.
  • Must have minimum 10 years of experience in Navy or Coast Guard communications systems.
  • Must be willing to travel CONUS/OCONUS
  • Must be willing to work extended hours including weekends and holidays
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and pre-hire drug test.

Preferred:

  • Prior military training A-school, C-school
  • Technical training for HF/UHF OJT or other
  • Expertise in repair, alignment, overhaul, sustainment and modernization of all variants of Digital Modular Radio.
  • Expertise in repair, alignment, overhaul, sustainment and modernization of all variants of ARC-210 radio systems.
  • Factory training certification for DMR and ARC-210 radio systems
  • Background in shipboard communication, knowledge/expertise with one or more systems listed:
    a) Digital Modular Radio (DMR)
    b) AN/URT-23C, D, E
    c) AN/USQ-155 Tactical Variant Switch (TVS)
    d) SA-2112 BAS & SAS
    e) AN/WSC-3 (all variants)
    f) UHF Couplers (OA-9123, 9277, 9277A)
    g) AN/URC-93
    h) HF Couplers (AN/SRA-56/7/8, AN/URA-38, RF-2601, CU-2475, etc.)
    i) AN/URC-109 LHD Communications System
    j) Antenna Tilt Groups (OA-9242, 9242A, 9243, 9243A, CA-1307, PF-109)
    k) Shipboard Antenna systems (whips, fans, SATCOM, MCCP, etc.)
    l) AN/URC-141 (HFSAR)
    m) AN/USC-42 (MINI-DAMA)
    n) TD-1271
    o) High/Ultra/Very High Frequency (HF/UHF/VHF) Systems

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work in low lit areas for long periods of time.

Physical Requirements:

  • This role is largely sedentary.
