Job Description

The Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Clinical Manager oversees the daily operations and clinical quality of addiction treatment programs, ensuring compliance with state regulations and evidence-based standards of care. They supervise and mentor clinical staff, manage case assignments, and maintain high standards for individual and group therapy delivery. Additionally, they coordinate cross-disciplinary patient care, direct crisis interventions, and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance recovery outcomes.

POSITION SUMMARY

The SUD Clinical Manager provides essential leadership and supervision to clinical staff within our mental health programs. This role coordinates clinical services, ensures value-based care, and monitors team performance to meet the highest standards of state, federal, and grantor regulations. The SUD Clinical Manager will be a key player in maintaining exceptional clinical quality and fostering a supportive, effective environment for both staff and clients.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides leadership to the program staff through clinical supervision and reviews, consultation, training, and support to ensure contract compliance and program quality.
  • Regularly evaluate individual and overall team performance; use collected data and information to make needed improvements including adjustments to caseloads and work assignments to maximize quality of care, and staff productivity.
  • Assures staff and program goals are met in accordance with established program policies and procedures, regulations and guidelines issued by the District of Columbia Department of Behavioral Health and Department of Health, Medicaid Program and other applicable laws and regulations and professional standards.
  • Manage and review treatment plans and clinical interventions.
  • Supervise and countersign team clinical documents withing the electronic medical record.
  • Approve and countersign supervisee’s clinical documents.
  • Audits client records to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifically monitors treatment plans, progress notes, medication, education and management, discharge summaries and plans.
  • Initiate and maintain internal and external agency relationships for referral and regulatory authorities.
  • Support and comply with the values, policies, and practices of Hillcrest Children and Family Center.
  • Abide by the organization’s confidentiality policies and HIPAA compliance.
  • Exhibit the ability to handle emergencies effectively.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree or PhD in one of the Behavioral Health/Social Services sciences.
  • Must have an unrestricted/active LICSW or LPC license in the District of Columbia.
  • 3+ years of experience providing clinical services to ethnically diverse adult populations.
  • Experienced in providing trauma-informed, person-centered care to individuals and groups managing substance use challenges
  • Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds. Bilingual skills are a plus.
