Substitute Custodian

Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable individual to serve as a Substitute Custodian. This position is crucial for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment within our facilities. The Substitute Custodian will step in as needed to perform essential custodial duties, ensuring that all areas are well-kept and conducive to the health and comfort of staff and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing surfaces in classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas.
• Assist with the setup and breakdown of furniture and equipment for events and activities as required.
• Respond promptly to requests for cleaning and maintenance from staff and administration.
• Monitor and restock cleaning supplies and report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations while performing all cleaning tasks.
• Maintain a positive and professional demeanor while interacting with staff, students, and visitors.
• Participate in training sessions and follow established procedures for custodial work.
• Adapt to various work schedules and locations as needed, providing support in multiple facilities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous custodial or cleaning experience is a plus, but not mandatory.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Basic knowledge of cleaning products, chemicals, and equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication skills and a customer service-oriented approach.
• Flexibility to work on short notice and adapt to varying schedules.
• Ability to pass a fingerprint-based background check per school board policy.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment physical.
