Substitute Teacher

Job Summary

The Substitute Teacher is responsible for providing effective classroom instruction and supervision in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. The substitute teacher will follow the lesson plans provided, maintain a positive learning environment, and ensure the safety and well-being of all students while supporting the educational goals of Frontier School Corporation.

Essential Responsibilities

• Follow lesson plans and instructional materials provided by the regular classroom teacher to maintain continuity of instruction.
• Provide instruction, guidance, and assistance to students in accordance with established curriculum and classroom expectations.
• Maintain a safe, orderly, and positive learning environment that promotes student engagement and appropriate behavior.
• Take attendance and maintain accurate records as required by school procedures.
• Supervise students in the classroom, hallways, cafeteria, playground, and other assigned areas.
• Enforce school rules, classroom expectations, and disciplinary procedures in a fair and consistent manner.
• Communicate with the building principal, staff, and regular classroom teacher regarding classroom activities, student concerns, and any incidents.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information and follow all school corporation policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
• Assist students with assignments, classroom activities, and other educational needs within the scope of the substitute teachers responsibilities.
• Complete and submit a summary of classroom activities, student attendance, and significant incidents to the regular classroom teacher or building principal at the end of the assignment.
