NOTICE OF VACANCY

POSITION: Building Substitute Teachers

LOCATION: Southington Public Schools

SALARY: $135.00 per day

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

The building substitute is assigned to a specific building for the school year. Substitute teachers perform the instructional and classroom management processes for teachers who are absent for a day or longer periods of time. Their duties include taking attendance, explaining homework, and maintaining classroom cleanliness. Candidates need to be flexible, as their day-to-day assignments are subject to change.

• Arrive to school early enough to familiarize yourself with the environment, lessons and notes a teacher will leave for the day.
• Professional dress code is required. The profession deserves and commands respect and we always want to present as our best self.
• When in the classroom with students, always stay alert and engaged with the students, monitor their activity and interact with them.
• Understanding on how to handle challenging situations within the classroom.
• Ability to establish relationships with students.
• Maintain confidentiality requirements specific to student matters, names, or school procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must, at a minimum, have a bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.
