Job Description

Norfolk Collegiate is seeking passionate, reliable Substitute Teachers for the current academic year. Substitute Teachers provide instructional coverage across our Lower, Middle, and Upper School divisions, ensuring continuity of learning, maintaining a safe classroom environment, and supporting the school's mission in the absence of primary faculty.Compensation & Employment Details:Pay Rate:$15.00 per hour for candidates holding a Bachelor's degree (any field)$20.00 per hour for candidates holding a Bachelor's degree in EducationPosition Type: Temporary / On-Call, non-exempt (hourly)Target Student Population: Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12Key Responsibilities:Implement teacher lesson plans, deliver instructional content, and manage classroom activities across Lower, Middle, and Upper School levels as neededMaintain active supervision and foster a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment for students of diverse backgrounds and learning stylesProctor study halls, supervise non-classroom activities, and assist with general duties as assigned by school administrationCollaborate effectively with classroom teachers, department chairs, and administrators to ensure seamless instructional continuityAdapt flexibly to varying subject areas, age groups, and schedule changes throughout the school dayDemonstrate enthusiasm for student engagement and reflect the values and community standards of Norfolk CollegiateQualifications:Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required; a degree in Education or a specific subject discipline is preferredPrior teaching experience in a lower, middle, or upper school setting highly desirableDemonstrated commitment to innovative, interdisciplinary, and student-centered learning approachesExceptional communication, adaptability, and classroom management skillsInterested candidates should upload a cover letter, resume, three professional references, an unofficial copy of transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate degrees, and, if applicable, teacher certifications.
