Summer Intern 2027 - Capital Markets (Rotational)

As one of the nations more established and experienced participants in the fixed income markets, Mesirow offers our clients a myriad of financial products, and services including municipal bond origination, credit tenant lease and structured debt origination, and boasts one of the largest institutional sales and trading platform that is based outside of New York City.

We have an opportunity for a Capital Markets Rotational Intern to learn and contribute to a myriad of fixed income products. Specifically, interns will rotate and gain exposure between the Public Finance, CTL (Credit Tenant Lease) and Structured Debt Products, and Sales & Trading businesses. Successful candidates will possess strong quantitative and communication skills and thrive in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. This program allows students to simultaneously display their current talents and acquire new ones.

Responsibilities:

• Perform various types of analysis using fundamental and technical data
• Become familiar with Senior management and their roles
• Conduct industry and product research in support of trading desks and senior leaders
• Prepare presentation materials and participate in portfolio reviews for senior management
• Monitor a variety of markets and assist in developing trade ideas in support of the trading desks
• Participate in individual and group projects and shadowing opportunities
• Listen to client calls and help field client requests

Requirements:

• Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, or Math
• Graduation between December 2027 and June 2028
• Minimum GPA: 3.4
• Strong extracurricular activities/campus involvement
• High proficiency with Microsoft Office products (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail
• Superior communications skills, both oral and written; effective interpersonal skills
• Ability to work well independently and also within a team
• Understanding of accounting, math, and basic finance
• A background in computer science is beneficial, but not required

In accordance with the Illinois Pay Transparency Law, the anticipated compensation for the role will be $20.00 per hour for the duration of the program.
