Job Title: Senior Construction Superintendent - K-12 School Addition and RenovationJob Description

This role leads the on-site delivery of a large K-12 school addition and renovation project in Virginia. The Senior Construction Superintendent oversees all field operations, ensuring the project meets safety, schedule, quality, and budget expectations while coordinating closely with subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day on-site construction activities for a large K-12 school addition and renovation project in Virginia.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage the overall construction schedule, ensuring all milestones and deadlines are met.
  • Oversee construction management activities, including planning, sequencing, and coordination of all trades and field operations.
  • Direct and supervise subcontractors on site, ensuring work quality, productivity, and adherence to project plans and specifications.
  • Coordinate material ordering, delivery, and inventory to ensure timely availability of all required materials and equipment.
  • Implement and enforce site safety programs and policies, including OSHA requirements, to maintain a safe work environment for all personnel.
  • Manage base building construction and interior construction activities for large commercial project components.
  • Oversee MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) coordination and installation to ensure integration with overall building systems.
  • Monitor project progress and proactively address issues related to schedule, quality, and site logistics.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to ensure clear communication, alignment on project goals, and timely resolution of field-related issues.
  • Support budget management efforts by aligning field activities with project cost objectives.
  • Review and interpret drawings, specifications, and subcontractor scopes to ensure accurate execution of work on site.
  • Maintain thorough project documentation related to scheduling, subcontractor coordination, safety, and site activities.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a superintendent on large construction projects.
  • Proven experience overseeing large K-12 school projects or comparable large commercial projects.
  • Strong background in interior construction for large commercial or institutional buildings.
  • Demonstrated expertise in schedule management for complex construction projects.
  • Hands-on experience with construction management, including field coordination and trade sequencing.
  • Proficiency in subcontractor management, including supervision, coordination, and performance oversight.
  • Experience with site safety management and practical knowledge of OSHA requirements.
  • Working knowledge of MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) systems in commercial construction.
  • Experience with base building construction, including structural and core elements.
  • Ability to manage material ordering and logistics to support project schedules.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to direct on-site teams effectively.
  • Ability to support budget management by aligning field operations with cost objectives.

  • Experience working on K-12 or other educational facility projects.

This role is based primarily on a school project site in Virginia, overseeing a large K-12 addition and renovation. The position involves active engagement in the field, coordinating trades and ensuring safe, efficient site operations. The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $125000.00/yr.
