Job Description

The Superintendent - K-12 Renovation & Addition - Manassas, VA will be responsible for:

  • Leading all on-site construction activities for K-12 renovation and addition projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with project plans and specifications.
  • Developing and maintaining project schedules while coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and field personnel to meet key project milestones.
  • Managing daily field operations, including manpower planning, material deliveries, quality control, site logistics, and trade coordination.
  • Conducting subcontractor meetings and holding teams accountable for productivity, safety, and project performance.
  • Working closely with project managers, owners, architects, and school representatives to proactively resolve issues and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Overseeing project safety initiatives, enforcing company safety standards, and maintaining a clean, organized jobsite.
  • Identifying and resolving field conflicts, drawing discrepancies, and constructability issues to keep projects moving efficiently.
  • Monitoring project quality and ensuring all work is completed in compliance with contract documents and local building requirements.
  • Coordinating inspections, punch lists, turnover activities, and project closeout documentation.
  • Managing projects within active school environments while minimizing disruption to students, faculty, staff, and ongoing campus operations.
  • Supporting and mentoring assistant superintendents, field engineers, and other project team members.
  • Providing regular updates on project progress, schedule impacts, and potential risks to both internal and external stakeholders.

The Successful Applicant

The Superintendent - K-12 Renovation & Addition - Manassas, VA will have:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent managing commercial construction projects, with experience in K-12, higher education, municipal, or other occupied renovation environments preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead all field operations, including scheduling, subcontractor management, quality control, safety, and project coordination.
  • Experience successfully delivering renovation and addition projects while maintaining schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
  • Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, building systems, sequencing, and site logistics.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage subcontractors and hold teams accountable for productivity, safety, and workmanship.
  • Experience working closely with owners, architects, engineers, inspectors, and project management teams.
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and project documentation.
  • A commitment to jobsite safety and experience implementing and enforcing company safety standards and procedures.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills with the ability to proactively address project challenges.
  • Experience managing projects in active or occupied environments where stakeholder communication and minimizing disruption are critical.
  • Proficiency with construction management technology, scheduling tools, and field reporting software.
  • A stable career history and desire to build a long-term career with a growing general contractor.
