Job Description

The Superintendent will manage site safety, schedules, financial goals, and quality control while working closely with the Project Manager. This role requires hands-on leadership to direct workflows, oversee subcontractors, enforce compliance, and ensure projects are executed to meet contractual and quality standards.


Key Responsibilities

Project Planning and Coordination

  • Ensure compliance with SWPPP plans, BMPs, and storm-related paperwork.
  • Maintain up-to-date project-related surveys and documentation.

Leadership and Communication

  • Lead subcontractors and field staff through effective communication and coordination.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between owners, architects, consultants, and field personnel.
  • Organize project meetings, document progress, and ensure all parties are fully aligned with project goals.

Contract and Compliance Management

  • Monitor contract documents for compliance with general conditions and contract requirements.
  • Negotiate subcontractor terms, oversee contract execution, and resolve subcontractor issues promptly.

Project Documentation and Systems

  • Use tools like Procore to manage project documentation, RFIs, submittals, inspections, safety reports, change orders, and related materials.
  • Ensure contracts and insurance documents are properly executed before allowing personnel access to the site.

Quality and Safety Oversight

  • Enforce compliance with OSHA and other safety regulations while promoting safe work practices.
  • Evaluate project safety needs, conduct start-up safety meetings, and monitor ongoing compliance.
  • Perform inspections to ensure work adheres to quality and contract specifications.

Travel Requirements

  • Primarily focused on Los Angeles and Orange County projects, with potential travel to San Diego County as needed.

Qualifications and Requirements

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years in commercial construction, with a focus on life science, pharmaceutical, or healthcare projects.
  • Experience managing projects valued at $2M or more.

Education and Training

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a relevant field preferred.
  • Certifications in OSHPD/HCAI regulations and construction safety are strong assets.

Skills and Technical Expertise

  • Proficiency in reinforced concrete, wood framing, MEP systems, and construction techniques.
  • Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite and project management platforms like Procore.
  • Strong written, verbal, presentation, and negotiation skills for collaboration with stakeholders and clients.
  • Excellent budgeting, cost control, and subcontractor management abilities.
  • Proactive problem-solving, risk assessment, and mitigation strategies.
  • Focus on quality control and compliance with relevant codes and construction standards
