Job Summary:

Under the general direction of the Chief Deputy Director, Policy & Administration, the Supervising Management Auditor provides strategic direction and oversight to the Audits & Investigations Division to ensure the effectiveness of the Division's programs, policies, and procedures. The incumbent provides guidance, direction, and feedback to subordinate staff to assist with operational efficiency and develop the supervisory skills of personnel. The incumbent facilitates the total audit process, and reviews with external oversight bodies to ensure the integrity of the department's operations and resources.

Essential Functions will include:

  • Strategic Direction and Oversight

  • Responsible for implementing, managing, and monitoring audit and investigation strategies, internal control frameworks, and compliance policies affecting the Division.

  • Collaborate with executive leadership to ensure alignment of audit and investigative activities with the Department's strategic goals and statewide response priorities.

  • Compliance Leadership and Risk Management

  • Oversee the Department's compliance with the State Leadership Accountability Act (SLAA), including internal control evaluations, biennial reporting, and corrective action tracking.

  • Advise executive leadership on enterprise risk exposure, internal control gaps, and systemic vulnerabilities that impact service delivery and fiscal accountability.

  • Organizational Leadership and Staff Development

  • Promote professional growth through mentoring, coaching, and developing staff initiatives to build technical capacity and leadership readiness.

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and expertise to program staff as it relates to state and federal control agency audits and monitoring visits.

Working Conditions

Hybrid Telework: This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule. Additional in office days may be required based on the business need.

  • Experience in coordinating and ensuring collaboration between auditors and internal stakeholders, working effectively with top level managers of state agencies, control agencies, and other organizations.
  • Maintains professionalism and focus under pressure, managing high-stakes audits and reviews, tight deadlines, and sensitive investigations with discretion and persistence.
  • Experience in data mining and analytics tools to uncover trends, anomalies, and risk indicators, enhancing audit precision, resource allocation, and strategic insights for executive decision-making.
  • Ability to adjust to evolving audit priorities, regulatory changes, and cross-departmental demands, ensuring continuity and compliance across internal audits, risk reviews, and external audit coordination.
