    Northwestern Medical Center is currently recruiting a supervisor, in Environmental Services, for evening/night shift. The position is full-time (80 hours bi-weekly), hours are generally 5 pm - 1:30 am. Northwestern Medical Center’s mission is to provide exceptional health care to our community.     $20.44 to $28.56 USD 

    Supervisor Environmental Services

    JOB SUMMARY:

    ·       The Department Supervisor is responsible for supporting the Manager of Environmental Services by administering all of Northwest Medical Center programs by maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and consistency throughout all area of the hospital.

    PRE-REQUISITES:·       

    •      Education:
      • High school degree required.  Associates preferred.
    •      Experience:
      • 2 years of Environmental Services team leadership preferred.
    •      Special Skills:
      • Understanding of OSHA regulations, hospital safety, infection control, general cleaning and floor maintenance skills and excellent customer service.
      • Other:  Must possess a valid driver’s license with clean driving record and be insurable by NMC’s insurance policy.

    RELATIONSHIPS:

    ·       Reports To:

    o   Environmental Services Manager

    ·       Supervises:

    o   Environmental Services team

    ·       Other Contacts:

    o   All NMC employees, patient and their families, vendors and the general public on and offsite.

    SCOPE:

    ·       Machinery or Equipment Used:

    o   Industrial cleaning equipment: vacuum cleaner, mop, broom/dustpan, linen cart, trash barrel on barrel roller, trash compactor, washing machine, case-knife, power cleaning equipment, auto-scrubbers, extractors, burnishers, step ladder, dolly, computer, phone, beeper, tablet, hospital vehicles

    ·       Physical Demands:

    o   Energy requirements for frequent mopping, pushing/pulling, lifting, etc. Occasional: kneeling, squatting, overhead reaching and lifting up to 55 lbs. Frequent: reaching, bending, and pushing/pulling, lifting, carrying up to 14 lbs., walking with and without the hospital in all weather, repetitive gripping for extended time, and constant use of hands, occasional desk sitting

    ·       Working Conditions:

    o   Potential for spills of cleaning agents, mop buckets, etc. and potential exposure to blood borne pathogens when cleaning, exposure to extreme temperatures, uneven surfaces, confined spaces, minor vibration, high elevations. Expected to work independently, while subject to interruptions, high patient volume, and ability to substitute or adjust for absenteeism in any role or location

    ·       Required Protective Equipment:

    o   Mask, booties, gloves, hairnet, lab coat, face shield, gown and goggles as situation dictates

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    1.     Participates in interviews and trains new staff.

    2.     Oversees the daily operations of the Environmental Services Department.

    3.     Rounds daily on work areas to ensure quality.

    4.     Ensures all work orders are completed in a timely manner.

    5.     Actively seeks a better way of performing cleaning tasks, floor maintenance and offsite cleaning to reduce redundancy and decrease costs.

    6.     Models excellent customer service and positive attitude with staff, patients and customers.

    7.     Works in collaboration with staff to improve their individual performance and overall team performance.

    8.     Reviews staff checklists to ensure each job is completed and reassigns missed work.

    9.     Completes staff schedule.

    10.  Sends out a weekly communication email and updates the staff bulletin boards with pertinent information applicable to EVS Staff.
