Supplier and Process Quality Engineer (Aerospace Materials)
What your day looks like
You start by reviewing the latest replacement metrics and overnight quality alerts. You lead a quick huddle to coordinate corrective actions on daily failures, NCRs/CARs, and any replacements. Through the day, you’re partnering with operations leaders to tighten controls, refining order-specific Inspection & Control (Cut Up) Plans, and digging into data to eliminate repeat nonconformances. You’ll touch base with suppliers to drive SCAR closure, keep the stamp control log current for new hires and departures, and run Failure Quality Analyses on any nonconforming lab tests. You also support customer audits, respond to customer inquiries, and push continual improvement that meets or exceeds expectations—all while reporting to the Quality Manager.
Key impact areas
- Own front-end corrective actions (daily failures, replacements, NCRs/CARs); maintain visibility with clear metrics and follow-through to resolution.
- Create and distribute Quality Alerts that prevent recurrence and raise awareness across teams.
- Coordinate and lead the replacement review meeting; track actions until close.
- Oversee stamp control: maintain an accurate, up-to-date stamp/signature/initial log for onboarding and offboarding.
- Manage supplier SCARs; monitor supplier processes and verify effective corrective actions.
- Maintain the Training Matrix; track new employee training needs and update records when employees leave.
- Perform FQA on nonconforming laboratory tests to pinpoint root causes and recommend countermeasures.
- Design and implement scalable quality systems, procedures, and process controls.
- Inspect and test materials, equipment, processes, and certifications to verify compliance with specifications.
- Investigate process issues, apply 8D/lean methods, and sustain improvements.
- Author or review order-specific Inspection & Control (Cut Up) Plans and associated quality documentation.
- Lead and perform internal audits to strengthen the QMS and uncover process enhancements.
- Educate production teams on QMS and inspection practices; participate in 6S initiatives.
- Comply with PCC Code of Conduct Requirements and all PCC Cardinal Rules (e.g., Quality and Safety).
Collaboration
Act as a key liaison among internal teams, suppliers, and customers. You’ll partner with operations managers and customer representatives to surface gaps, verify effective corrective actions, and champion a culture of quality.
