SUPPLIER QUALITY ENGINEER (Permanent)
Our client, a global manufacturing organization with headquarters in WNY, is looking to add a Supplier Quality Engineer to their growing team.


Responsibilities:

  • Establish, implement, and continuously enhance quality systems and manufacturing processes that support safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals through collaboration with internal stakeholders and external suppliers
  • Perform Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities, create Process Flow Diagrams, Process Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (PFMEAs), Control Plans, and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions for new/existing products
  • Review engineering drawings and design requirements to point out Critical‑to‑Quality (CTQ) qualities & risk areas to ensure proper controls, measurement methods, and inspection strategies are being utilized
  • Collaborate with various internal team members (Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain) during product development and change management to ensure quality requirements are effectively communicated to suppliers
  • Develop supplier quality documentation and review/approve
  • Develop and analyze supplier process controls/quality metrics to ensure compliance with engineering specifications, customer expectations, and industry standards
  • Perform qualification processes for new suppliers to ensure readiness for successful product launches
  • Conduct risk assessments and root cause analysis as supplier-related nonconformances occur; identify issues/gaps and implement corrective actions
  • Actively participate in supplier audits/assessments vs. manufacturing processes, quality systems, inspection methods, process controls, and compliance
  • Track performance using key quality indicators, identify improvement opportunities, and lead supplier development initiatives to improve overall operational performance
  • Investigate customer complaints/issues as they relate to supplied components, identifying errors and implementing corrective actions
  • Review and approve prototypes/pre‑production samples using product lifecycle management tools and internal quality systems
  • Oversee warranty investigations and follow through to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner
  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma and other quality methodologies to improve manufacturing efficiency and supplier quality
  • Work well both independently and in a team environment—collaborate with global team members to create universal standard procedures, inspection methodologies, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned/as necessary

Details:

  • Position is full-time, direct hire
  • 25-40% travel to supplier/manufacturing locations
  • 100% in-office
  • $75,000 - $95,000 annually depending on experience
  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical engineering; higher education (Masters/Ph.D.) are a strong asset
  • 3+ years’ experience in an engineering/ quality control environment
  • Experience with ISO 9001, 14002, ASME HI, and Fire Pump listings
  • Knowledge of inspection processes by using standard lab instruments, GO – NO GO, and functional gauges
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organization skills and time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Self-motivated
  • Relocation not available
