Summary of Position:

The Supply Chain Manager - Chemicals leads chemical procurement, planning, supplier management, and related technical supply chain support. This role develops cost-effective sourcing, inventory, and supply strategies that support operational execution, customer needs, and long-term business objectives. The position requires a leader who can make high-level business decisions with a strong cost-conscious mindset while also applying detailed technical analysis, ERP data, market insight, and operational feedback. This role works closely with Operations, Sales, Technical Sales, Finance, Accounting, IT, Planning, warehouse teams, and external suppliers to align supply strategy, manage risk, improve performance, and deliver reliable value to the business.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Leads chemical procurement, planning, supplier management, and technical supply chain support with a focus on cost, reliability, service, and long-term business impact.
  • Develops and executes sourcing, inventory, and supply strategies that support operational demand, customer commitments, financial goals, and key performance indicators.
  • Makes strategic supply chain decisions using cost analysis, supplier capability, market conditions, risk exposure, ERP data, and operational input.
  • Partners with Operations, Sales, Technical Sales, Planning, Finance, Accounting, IT, and warehouse teams to align supply plans with business priorities and field execution.
  • Serves as a key internal point of contact for chemical supply chain matters, ensuring clear communication, timely issue resolution, and alignment across commercial, operational, and technical stakeholders.
  • Builds and manages supplier relationships that support competitive pricing, reliable supply, service quality, contractual performance, and continued business growth.
  • Evaluates existing and potential suppliers based on cost, quality, lead times, responsiveness, supply assurance, technical capability, and overall value.
  • Monitors market conditions, product availability, vendor pricing, and supply constraints; communicates business impacts and recommendations to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Identifies and implements cost-saving opportunities, category improvements, inventory efficiencies, and process enhancements across chemical procurement and planning.
  • Supports accurate forecasting, customer planning, margin awareness, and disciplined cost management in partnership with Sales and Technical Sales leadership.
  • Develops and maintains supply risk management practices to reduce exposure to shortages, pricing volatility, supplier disruptions, and operational constraints.
  • Supports risk, compliance, and process discipline across procurement, inventory, supplier management, and transactional workflows.
  • Partners with Finance, Accounting, and IT to improve procure-to-pay effectiveness, transaction accuracy, system use, and process consistency.
  • Leads or supports supplier negotiations, pricing reviews, contract terms, and commercial agreements to ensure competitive and business aligned outcomes.
  • Provides leadership, coaching, and technical guidance to employees while promoting accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
