Job Description
The Arizona Department of Child Safety (AZDCS) is seeking a Legal Assistant to support the review and processing of substantiated allegations and court documentation. The Legal Assistant will review court records and legal documents from various counties throughout Arizona to determine whether proposed substantiated allegations were adjudicated or dismissed prior to adjudication. Based on findings, the Legal Assistant will communicate with field staff to obtain required documentation supporting proposed substantiated allegations.
This role is also responsible for utilizing the Central Registry Tier System to assign applicable tiers to processed allegations and conducting research and review for approximately 173,000 substantiated allegations to ensure proper tier classification.
Key Responsibilities
- Review court documents, petitions, and legal records from Arizona counties.
- Determine if proposed substantiated allegations were adjudicated or dismissed before adjudication.
- Coordinate with field staff to obtain supporting documentation for allegations.
- Utilize the Central Registry Tier System to classify allegations appropriately.
- Research, review, and process a high volume of substantiated allegations.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records.
- Ensure compliance with agency policies and legal procedures.
Required Skills
- Understanding of court language, legal terminology, and petitions.
- Strong reading comprehension skills.
- Computer literacy and proficiency with standard office applications.
- Ability to analyze legal documents and identify relevant information.
Preferred Skills
- Documentation and records management experience.
