Get to Know Your Team: Hackensack Meridian Pascack Valley Medical Center is a 128-bed, full-service, acute-care community hospital with a new emergency department, a state-of-the-art maternity center, a womens imaging center, and an ICU. ResponsibilitiesThe Histology Supervisor functions as a professional who assumes responsibility and accountability for leading the histology department. With direct oversight of staff who perform histology specimen preparation and testing specific to the pathology/histology department. QualificationsJob Requirements: Baccalaureate Degree in Histotechnology, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a chemical, physical, or biological science.ORAssociates degree in Medical Laboratory Technician or chemical, physical, or biological science with >2 years of experience in a high complexity clinical laboratory. ASCP or equivalentCertification within a specific area, i.e. M(ASCP), H(ASCP), C(ASCP) qualifiesCertification must be maintained without lapse during employmentIf certification lapses, the job will be downgraded to Medical Laboratory Scientist (non-certified) until certification is reinstatedExperience as a Histology TechnologistCurrent knowledge of pathology laboratory techniques and principles1+ years' experience with high complexity testing in PathologyOverall knowledge of lab operations, including quality control, safety, and problem-solvingShows evidence of leadership skills in managing peopleKnowledge of department shift operationsExcellent customer service skillsProblem-solving and conflict resolutionPreferred Job Requirements: Certification as a HistotechnologistPrevious experience in a leadership role, billing compliance, performance improvement, and regulatory standards Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
