A 150+ bed acute care hospital in Overland Park is seeking a Surgery Manager to lead daily operations within its Operating Room. The facility features a Robotic Surgery Center of Excellence, a certified Breast Center of Excellence, and a regional Genitourinary Cancer clinic.

Position Overview

This leadership role is responsible for overseeing the operational performance of the OR, including staffing, scheduling, productivity management, and resource utilization. The Surgery Manager ensures efficient surgical workflow while maintaining patient safety, regulatory compliance, and high-quality perioperative standards.

The role also includes hands-on involvement in surgical procedures when needed, supporting clinical teams and serving as a liaison between surgical staff, physicians, and patients’ families.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the Operating Room and perioperative services
• Manage OR scheduling, staffing, and workflow optimization
• Monitor productivity, premium labor use, and operational efficiency
• Support supply chain and equipment utilization to control costs and improve processes
• Analyze and report perioperative performance and operational metrics
• Ensure compliance with AORN guidelines, hospital policies, and regulatory standards
• Participate in surgical procedures as needed, including setup and intraoperative support
• Assist with maintaining sterile technique, patient safety, and accurate surgical counts
• Serve as a communication link between surgical teams, physicians, and patient families
• Lead or support quality improvement and risk management initiatives

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Nursing or RN diploma required; BSN preferred
• Active RN license in the applicable state or compact license required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire
• Minimum of 3 years of recent hospital surgical experience required (general surgery required)
• Minimum of 3 years of recent OR leadership experience (Charge RN or OR Manager level) required
• Strong experience in robotics and/or orthopedics preferred
