Summary: Responsible for full-range of scheduling duties, including: insurance authorization, pre-admission test and clearance scheduling, surgery or procedure room scheduling. Knowledge of equipment and of devices required for surgery needed. Coordination with primary care physicians, patient and surgeons is required.

Essential Functions

  • Schedules patient appointments and surgeries. Responsible for verifying patients insurance and referrals prior to scheduling surgery.
  • Maintains control of surgery/endo schedule, documenting surgery in medent schedule and each physician's outlook calendar.
  • Advises patients of scheduled procedures and instructions.
  • Responsible for updating all departments of upcoming procedures including: admissions, surgery, radiology and specialty units.
  • Responsible obtaining authorization for all surgical and endovascular interventions.
  • Schedule all preoperative imaging and testing.
  • Schedule all post op office visits with appropriate testing as required.
  • Responsible for all study patients additional testing pre and post op.
  • Complete all paperwork for patients and appropriate departments.
  • Update MEDENT for all activities.
  • Notify all appropriate individuals of scheduling changes.
  • Keeps physicians informed on patient waiting status.
  • Schedules office visits and diagnostic testing; obtains authorizations as required; enters appointments into appropriate databases.
  • Assist physician in optimizing scheduling and productivity.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Other duties as assigned.
