About the Role:
Hess Spine and Orthopedics LLC in Fairfield, NJ is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Surgical Coordinator to join our growing team. Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures with hospitals, surgical centers, and surgical teams
- Serve as the primary point of contact for patients throughout the pre-operative and post-operative process
- Obtain and verify prior authorizations and insurance pre-certifications for surgical procedures
- Communicate with surgeons, clinical staff, and facility personnel to confirm surgical bookings and requirements
- Prepare and distribute surgical packets, consent forms, and pre-op instructions to patients
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records within the EMR/EHR system
- Follow up on pending authorizations, referrals, and surgical clearances in a timely manner
Requirements:
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience as a Surgical Coordinator or in a similar medical office role
- Knowledge of orthopedic and/or spine surgical procedures and terminology preferred
- Experience with insurance authorizations, pre-certifications, and managed care processes
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient and provider interactions
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in healthcare administration a plus
