Surgical Instrument Finishing Technician

Pay Rate: $23.00 $25.00/hr, paid weekly
Location: Mansfield, MA 02048
Duration: 4-month contract, potential for extension

Shifts

  • 2nd Shift: Monday Friday, 2:30 PM 10:30 PM.
  • 3rd Shift: Sunday Thursday, 10:30 PM 6:30 AM.


Summary

Perform precision finishing and laser-marking operations on surgical instruments and machined components. This role requires strong attention to detail, experience with measuring equipment, and the ability to identify defects and ensure finished products meet drawing and quality specifications.


Responsibilities

  • Perform buffing, polishing, grinding, deburring, etching, and other finishing processes.
  • Load and unload surgical instruments into laser marking and machining equipment.
  • Inspect finished products for defects, non-conformances, proper dimensions, and surface finish.
  • Use micrometers, calipers, scales, indicators, optical comparators, and video measurement equipment.
  • Read and follow blueprints, drawings, work instructions, and quality specifications.
  • Maintain accurate production and quality documentation.
  • Troubleshoot routine production or quality issues using established procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2 4 years of related manufacturing, machining, finishing, or inspection experience.
  • Experience reading blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, scales, and indicators.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify product defects and non-conformances.
  • Strong English reading and writing comprehension.


Physical Requirements

  • Stand approximately 50% of the shift.
  • Regularly handle items weighing 10 lbs. or less.
  • Occasionally lift up to approximately 25 lbs.
