Applicants will be placed into the appropriate Surgical Technologist career ladder level and salary range based on individual education, certification, and experience.
Pennsylvania House Bill 81 (Enacted 10/29/2020; Effective 12/27/2020
Two years of current Surgical Technologist experience demonstrating advanced knowledge in at least two surgical specialties. Surgical specialties include, but are not limited to: General, Orthopedic, Vascular, Plastic and Reconstructive, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Thoracic, Ophthalmic, Neurosurgery, Organ Procurement, Endoscopic Surgical Settings
Access to medications is limited to the distribution of the medication to the nurse.
In addition to the required experience, candidates must meet one of the following:
Exception: A healthcare facility may employ individuals who do not meet the certification requirements if, after a diligent and thorough effort, it is unable to employ a sufficient number of qualified Surgical Technologists who meet the requirements. Written records of recruitment efforts must be maintained. Recruitment efforts are documented and can be supplied upon request. The supply of certified or certification-eligible Surgical Technologists does not meet organizational needs.
