Schedule & Call Requirements
Primary Schedule: 4x10s
6:45 AM – 5:15 PM (Primary)
Wednesdays: 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM
Rotating shift: 9:00 AM – 7:30 PM
On-Call Requirements:
One weekend per month (Friday 7:00 PM – Monday 7:00 AM)
30-minute response time when on call
One 2-hour CVI short call per week (5:15–7:15 PM or 6:00–8:00 PM Wednesdays)
One overnight CVI call per week (7:00/7:30 PM – 6:45/7:00 AM)
Holidays: Eligible and may be required while on contract
Orientation: Weekly (Mondays, barring holidays)
Job Overview
The Surgical Technologist – CVOR supports cardiac surgery, cardiac transplant, and advanced vascular procedures in a high-acuity operating room environment. This role requires strong cardiovascular surgical experience and the ability to scrub complex open and endovascular procedures while supporting a fast-paced surgical team.
Key Responsibilities
Scrub for cardiac surgery and cardiac transplant procedures (priority).
Support valve replacement, open vascular and endovascular procedures.
Assist with thoracic surgery, thoracic robotics, and general surgery cases.
Maintain sterile field and ensure readiness of surgical instruments and supplies.
Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and OR nursing staff.
Respond to CVI and cardiac call requirements within established response times.
Comply with all hospital policies, safety standards, and infection control protocols.
Required Qualifications
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) — NBSTSA required.
2+ years recent CVOR or related surgical experience.
MUST have valve replacement experience.
MUST scrub cardiac and/or vascular procedures.
American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Basic computer skills and ability to navigate web-based applications.
Willingness to take call, weekends, nights, and holidays as required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a teaching hospital environment.
Specialty expertise in cardiac, vascular, thoracic, or transplant surgery.
Additional Notes
No local travelers (must live more than 50 miles from the facility).
Travelers who have worked at this facility (travel, perm, or per diem) within the last 6 months are not eligible.
All RTO requests must be submitted at time of submission.
Parking may cost up to $43/day.
