Job Summary:Generally responsible for assisting with field surveys, laser scanning, construction staking, computer aided drafting and elementary survey computations, laser scan registration, and preparing drawings to be used for the design and construction of industrial facilities, roadways, residential and commercial developments. This work will be performed under the supervision of a professional land surveyor. Short-term travel and/or weekend work will be required.
Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Associate degree in Computer Aided Drafting, Surveying \ Geomatics or related field is preferred.
Registration: No registration is required for this position.
Experience: This position requires 2+ years of relevant experience in land surveying and computer aided drafting.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Familiarity with standards and codes.
Proficient in the use of field instruments such as robotic total stations, data collectors, GPS, and laser scanners.
Proficient with laser scanning registration software or equivalent a plus.
Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and Carlson Software or equivalent.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
Familiarity with surveying and/or civil/structural engineering terminology is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time.
Ability to lift and carry in excess of 25 lbs.
Ability to use the entire body, more often hands and arms, in handling, positioning, and moving equipment.
Ability to perform work outdoors in hot or cold climates, which may also involve walking through difficult terrain or industrial facilities
Comfortable working at heights off scaffold, platforms or manlifts.
Ability to drive – possesses a valid driver’s license
