Surveyor and Geospatial Engineer

Bemana is searching for a Surveypr & Geospatial Engineer on behalf of an organization led by former former SpaceX engineers on a mission to automate construction through software, operational improvements and robotics.

As a Surveyor & Geospatial Engineer, you will serve as a world-class model, survey, CAD, and geospatial leader responsible for pioneering the organization's transition to fully model-based civil infrastructure construction. You will be a true all-rounder, leading 3D modeling, survey and CAD efforts while also spending time on-site leading and directing field work, performing site validation and overseeing GPS/geospatial setup across multiple project locations. Working closely with takeoff technicians, field engineers, and operations teams, you will bridge the gap between digital models and field execution to make earthworks faster, safer and highly automated.

Responsibilities:

• Pioneer the deployment of model-based civil infrastructure workflows across active project sites, setting the standard for digital layout, 3D modeling, and spatial data integration.
• Lead 3D modeling, CAD preparation, and survey data management using civil/adjacent modeling software (such as Trimble Business Center) to produce decision-ready geospatial data.
• Direct and execute hands-on field surveying, site validation, topographic mapping, and GPS setup across multiple job sites in Texas.
• Support machine control systems, automated equipment, and field ops teams by converting civil design plans into precise 3D surface models and digital terrain models.
• Monitor, validate, and verify field surface conditions against design models throughout the construction lifecycle, identifying variances early.
• Fly drone missions (if licensed/applicable) for aerial site mapping, volume tracking, and high-precision spatial data capture.
• Collaborate closely with field engineers, takeoff technicians, and software teams to continuously improve internal workflows, data pipelines, and automation tools.

Qualifications:

• Proven track record and demonstrated experience in surveying, geospatial engineering, CAD modeling, or heavy civil/earthwork layout.
• Strong hands-on experience with GPS/GNSS survey equipment, total stations, machine control positioning, and field layout techniques.
• Experience with 3D modeling and CAD software for site development (Trimble Business Center or adjacent tools like Civil 3D, AGTEK, etc.).
• Demonstrated ability to act as an "all-rounder"—equally comfortable working behind the computer on complex CAD/modeling work as leading and executing in the field.
• FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification (drone license) or relevant surveying licenses/certifications are a strong plus (not strictly required).
• Strong problem-solving skills, detail orientation, and high attention to spatial accuracy.
• Comfortable traveling periodically between multiple job sites across Texas.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment.
• Must be willing to relocate to Austin, TX if not within commuting distance.
