AutoCAD Technician / Survey CAD Specialist

Our client is a rapidly growing utility and infrastructure contractor serving the Mid-Atlantic region with expertise in underground utility installation, trenchless construction, power distribution, communications, and data center infrastructure projects. With approximately 70+ employees across operations, engineering support, project management, safety, and leadership functions, the company has established a strong reputation for delivering complex projects safely, on schedule, and within budget. The AutoCAD Technician / Survey CAD Specialist will support high-profile infrastructure projects while collaborating with experienced survey and construction teams. Job Description

  • Create, modify, and maintain technical drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Process GPS survey data and incorporate field-collected information into project drawings and mapping files.
  • Develop and update accurate as-built drawings for completed utility and infrastructure projects.
  • Collaborate closely with survey crews, engineers, and construction teams to ensure drawing accuracy and project compliance.
  • Manage and organize survey records, mapping documentation, and project files.
  • Support utility, power distribution, communications, and civil infrastructure projects through drafting services.
  • Apply knowledge of survey coordinate systems and field-to-finish workflows throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Help maintain drafting standards and quality control procedures across project deliverables.
  • Serve as a technical resource for survey data processing and drawing production as an AutoCAD Technician / Survey CAD Specialist.
  • Contribute to the successful execution of complex infrastructure projects as an AutoCAD Technician / Survey CAD Specialist.

The Successful Applicant

  • Proficient with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Experience working with GPS survey data, survey points, and field-collected information.
  • Strong understanding of as-built documentation and utility mapping.
  • Background in land surveying, utility surveying, geomatics, civil engineering support, or related disciplines.
  • Knowledge of survey coordinate systems and field-to-finish processes.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with survey, engineering, and construction teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate technical documentation.
  • Organized, proactive, and capable of managing multiple project priorities.
  • Experience in roles such as Survey CAD Technician, Civil CAD Designer, Survey Technician, Geomatics Technician, Utility Mapping Technician, or Civil 3D Drafter.
