About the Role: MaruPlus Japanese Restaurant  is looking for a talented and passionate Sushi Chef who can work weekends  to join our team in Tucson, AZ! This is your opportunity to bring artistry and precision to the kitchen, crafting exceptional sushi experiences that keep guests coming back for more.



Responsibilities:

• Prepare and present a variety of sushi, sashimi, and Japanese cuisine to the highest quality standards
• Source, inspect, and handle fresh fish and seafood with proper food safety protocols
• Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked sushi bar at all times
• Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth, timely service during all shifts
• Develop and contribute creative ideas for seasonal specials and menu items
• Monitor inventory, minimize waste, and assist with ordering fresh ingredients as needed
• Engage with guests at the sushi bar to deliver an authentic and memorable dining experience

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar Japanese culinary role
• Proficiency in sushi rice preparation, knife skills, and traditional Japanese techniques
• Strong knowledge of fish butchery, seafood handling, and safe raw food preparation
• Valid food handler's certificate or ability to obtain one upon hire
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
