Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated Contract Specialist (Procurement Advisor) to support procurement operations at the Sweeny Refinery. This role serves as a key partner to internal stakeholders, driving sourcing initiatives, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring contract compliance in a fast-paced environment.
This position supports refinery operations and requires strong cross-functional collaboration to deliver strategic value through procurement excellence and supplier management. Candidates must be local to Sweeny, TX as per diem is not applicable.
Key Responsibilities:
Partner with refinery stakeholders to support day-to-day procurement activities, including services sourcing and supplier management
Lead and support sourcing events including bid development, evaluation, and supplier selection
Manage assigned contracts including negotiating terms, renewals, and amendments
Serve as liaison between site stakeholders and central procurement teams to ensure alignment
Ensure compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and governance standards
Identify opportunities for cost savings, improved supplier performance, and risk mitigation
Required Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred
3+ years of experience in procurement or sourcing
Experience supporting contract negotiations and supplier management
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Experience with procurement systems such as SAP, Ariba, GEP, or similar
Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
Strong influencing skills
Nice-to-Have Experience:
Experience in refinery, oil & gas, or heavy industrial environments
Familiarity with services-based procurement
Experience managing contractors and vendors
Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive results
