Job Title: Part-Time Swim InstructorDepartment: Wellness CenterEmployment Type: Part-TimeSalary: $25.00 / HourlySchedule: Contractual PT Saturdays - 2/3 hours Reports To: Wellness Center Director / Aquatics CoordinatorEssential ResponsibilitiesSwim Instruction & Participant SupportProvide adaptive swim lessons for individuals with disabilities of all ages and skill levelsTeach water safety, stroke development, aquatic exercise, and swimming fundamentalsModify instruction techniques to meet individual participant needs and abilitiesEncourage participant confidence, independence, and skill progressionMaintain accurate attendance and participant progress documentationSafety & SupervisionEnsure the safety and well-being of all participants in and around the pool areaEnforce pool rules, emergency procedures, and aquatic safety standardsRespond appropriately and efficiently to emergencies or behavioral situationsMaintain awareness of participant medical, behavioral, and support needsProgram SupportAssist with aquatic wellness programs, recreational swim activities, and special eventsHelp prepare and maintain pool equipment and instructional materialsCommunicate professionally with families, caregivers, and team membersSupport a positive, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all participantsQualificationsRequiredMinimum 18 years of agePrevious swim instruction or aquatic experience preferredAbility to work effectively with individuals with disabilitiesStrong communication, patience, and interpersonal skillsAbility to maintain professionalism and confidentialityCertifications RequiredCurrent CPR/AED CertificationCurrent First Aid CertificationLifeguard Certification a MUSTPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, bend, lift, and move in and around the pool environmentAbility to enter and exit the pool safely and assist participants as neededAbility to lift up to 40 pounds with or without reasonable accommodationAbility to work in a warm, humid aquatic environmentPreferred SkillsExperience working in adaptive aquatics or therapeutic recreationKnowledge of water safety instruction techniquesExperience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilitiesPositive attitude with a team-oriented mindset
