Schedule: Weekend Days, Friday - Sunday, 5:00am - 5:00pm (3 x 12s)

Work 36 hours, get paid for 40

Pay: $30.00 - $39.00/hour base, depending on experience, plus a 5% quarterly bonus target

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

A precision contract manufacturer of medical device components is adding a Swiss CNC Machinist II to its weekend day shift in Brooklyn Park. You will set up and run Swiss machines per work instructions and set up sheets, and own the quality of the parts you make. Clean, air-conditioned shop, casual dress code, and a team culture built on collaboration, continuous improvement and quality.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

- Set up Swiss machines unaided on most intermediate-complexity production jobs using work instructions and set up sheets

- Operate Swiss machines up to 9 axis per manufacturer recommendations and SOPs, producing quality parts to customer prints

- Follow job traveler standard rates and report out on the hour-by-hour board to meet or beat production rate and scrap targets driven by the ERP system

- Assist level 1 machinists so their product meets quality and customer requirements

- Keep accurate records of completed parts, scrap and nonconformances in the ERP system, job cards and WIP tags

- Keep shift-to-shift continuity by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and open needs

- Verify parts visually under a microscope and dimensionally using vision systems, CMMs and hand tools

- Read and use QC calc / SPC data to make offsets and tool changes and hold dimensional integrity

- Report machine, material and quality concerns to leads and supervisors

WHAT YOU NEED

- 3+ years of CNC Swiss machining experience, medical device or component manufacturing preferred

- Extensive understanding of G and M code; some macro program knowledge

- Operational knowledge of many types of machines and controls

- Able to do independent setups and troubleshooting

- Comfortable with scales, calipers, dial indicators and other measuring instruments

- Shop math, and able to use a computer and read and write in English

- High school diploma or GED; machine trades certificate or equivalent experience preferred

- Strong attention to detail

- ITAR: must be a U.S. citizen, green card holder, or have refugee or asylee status. Temporary visa holders (H-1B, TN, F-1/OPT, etc.) are not eligible

- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and E-Verify
