System Administrator (Linux, AWS)

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled System Administrator I to support and maintain critical IT infrastructure in Annapolis Junction, Maryland. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems administration, troubleshooting, and infrastructure support, with experience in Linux, Amazon Web Services (AWS), or BigFix.

This role offers the opportunity to work in a technical environment supporting system reliability, security, and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot servers, operating systems, and supporting infrastructure.

• Monitor system performance, availability, and security to ensure reliable operations.

• Perform system updates, patch management, software installations, and routine maintenance.

• Support Linux-based systems and assist with system configuration and administration.

• Assist with AWS cloud infrastructure management and troubleshooting, as applicable.

• Utilize enterprise endpoint management and patching tools, such as BigFix.

• Identify, investigate, and resolve system issues to minimize downtime.

• Implement and maintain system security configurations and organizational compliance requirements.

• Maintain technical documentation, system configurations, and operational procedures.

• Collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, and other technical teams to support infrastructure improvements.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field.

• 5+ years of experience in systems administration or a closely related technical role.

• Experience installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting IT systems.

• Knowledge of operating systems, networking fundamentals, and system security practices.

• Experience with system monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a technical environment.

Desired Qualifications

Experience with one or more of the following is highly desirable:

• Linux: Administration, configuration, troubleshooting, scripting, and system maintenance.

• AWS: Cloud infrastructure, EC2, IAM, cloud monitoring, and related AWS services.

• BigFix: Endpoint management, patch deployment, software distribution, and compliance monitoring.

Additional preferred experience includes:

• Automation and scripting using Bash or Python.

• Configuration management and infrastructure automation tools.

• System hardening, vulnerability remediation, and security compliance.

• Supporting enterprise or government IT environments.
