System Administrator (Mid)

The selected applicant will become part of an integrated contractor team as a Mid-Level System Administrator supporting high-fidelity/high resolution modeling of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS). The System Administrator will ensure the government's desired technical direction is consistently implemented throughout a geographically distributed data center and extended sites. Some travel may be required.Roles and Responsibilities:Serve as System Administrator Project Lead for the Huntsville ElementServe as an IT technical representative to the governmentConduct day-to-day system administration of the hardware and software for a modeling and simulation (M&S) systemProvide hands-on system administration support, system maintenance, and operations supportSupports building, configuring, and troubleshooting software and hardware enhancements, application deployments and infrastructure up-gradesSupports diagnosis and corrects computer, server, and network system issuesProvides continuous status information to ensure customer satisfactionInitiates customer contact, escalates to appropriate parties and resolve incidentsAnswers, evaluates, and prioritize incoming telephone, voicemail, e-mail, and in person requests for assistance from users experiencing technical problemsResponds to technical issues as they ariseEnsure consistent technical direction and understanding between government and contractor staffAssist in conduct of top-level IT architecture trades and developmentEnsure consistent architectural IT application across the M&S productsEnsure consistent IT processes, practices, and documentation across the M&S systemReport IT status to government and program managersPerform other IT duties as assignedAbility to present architectural design using Microsoft Tools (Visio, Project, PowerPoint, etc.)Minimum Requirements:Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited academic institution in a relevant technical discipline and bachelor's degree from an accredited academic institution in a relevant technical discipline and minimum three (3) to five (5) years of relevant technical experienceProfessional hands-on experience in design and implementation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux environmentsCandidate must have cyber security qualifications IAW DoD 8570 standards upon employment.Certifications:Security+ CELinux+ within 6 months or startingExperienced providing Help Desk Support/IT SupportExperienced with cloud-based computingExperience with machine virtualization including transitioning legacy products to virtualized productsAssist in evaluation, development, and deployment of large IT system of systems architectures involving both hardware and software componentsExcellent oral and written communications skillsCustomer focused with a desire to ensure successDesire to continue to learn and growActive DoD Secret ClearanceAdditional Desired Skill Sets:Demonstrated self-starter, takes initiative, can work independently with reduced supervisionDoD or MDA Modelling & Simulation experienceFamiliarity with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) BMDS, MDA Objective Simulation Framework and/or Single Stimulation Framework, Flight Test, and Wargames & Exercise lab assetsExperience with the DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF)Certifications:Network+A+Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)VMware Certified ProfessionalCertified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)Advanced degree from an accredited academic institution in a relevant technical field Security Clearance Requirements: Position requires that candidate possess or be able to acquire an active SECRET security clearance in order to access classified information.
