System Engineer

Location: Jersey City, NJ/ Charlotte NC/ Plano TX (Hybrid)

Duration: 12 months

Role Overview

This position is for a Unix OS System Engineer responsible for designing, building, and testing an automated RHEL OS provisioning solution for internal cloud compute environments. The role focuses on enabling reliable, scalable on-premise platforms through automation, integration, and continuous testing. The engineer will work hands-on with cloud computing platforms, MS Windows Server, and Linux systems to deliver automated workflows and ensure system reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and test automated RHEL OS provisioning solutions.
• Enable reliable and scalable on-premise platforms through automation and integration.
• Work with cloud computing platforms, MS Windows Server, and Linux systems.
• Deliver automated workflows and validate platform integrations.
• Ensure system reliability using modern automation and testing practices.
• Collaborate with platform, operations, SRE, and security teams.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in platform, systems, or infrastructure engineering, with a strong emphasis on automation and integration.
• Hands-on experience designing and delivering automated RHEL OS provisioning for on-premise or internal cloud compute environments.
• Strong Linux (RHEL) administration expertise, including OS installation, configuration, patching, services, networking, storage, security, and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in shell scripting and Python for building automation tools and workflows.
• Experience with automation and configuration management platforms such as Ansible or an equivalent.
• Working knowledge of Windows Server to support cross-platform workflows.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and CI/CD pipelines.
• Hands-on experience integrating OS provisioning with internal cloud services like virtualization platforms, networking, and identity systems.
• A strong focus on continuous testing, reliability, and automated validation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA).
• Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE).
• Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform certifications.
• HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate.
• Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA).
• Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate.
• Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert (AZ-400).
• CompTIA Security+ or equivalent security fundamentals certification.
