This role is a dual role as a coach and player, where some of your time is allocated to being a manager of a team of system engineers and part of your time as a system engineering contributor. This managed balance enables you to work on programs as a technical contributor/leader and manage your systems engineering team. Roles and Responsibilities (Team Manager): You will manage a team of engineers (30-40) supported by functional managers that will report to you. You will report directly to the director of Systems engineering, where he/she will be your guide and mentor. As the section manager of systems engineers, you will have the following responsibilities: As a senior member of the systems engineering staff help to shape the future of systems engineering to optimize performance Know and champion the application of the system engineering process, methods, resources (e.g. tools & people) and culture with your team Recruit, retain, train, recognize and develop systems engineers to achieve their highest potential in alignment with the business needs Assign team members as appropriate to programs, IRADs and proposals Regularly meet with your teams to flow-down company, business area and system engineering information.
