Fairview is looking for a System Professional Development Specialist RN for the OR. Located primarily at our Ridges Hospital, and occasionally at our Southdale Hospital.
Schedule: This position is a .8 FTE (64 hours per 2-week pay period) working primarily 8-hour day shifts, 4 shifts per week. Exact hours are variable.
Responsibilities:
The System Professional Development Specialist Nursing – RN (PDS) is a high-level clinical expert in nursing who identifies learning educational needs, develops curricula, and delivers quality education to nursing and healthcare personnel with measurable patient outcomes. The PDS improves the professional practice and role competence of nurses and other healthcare personnel by facilitating ongoing learning, change, and role competence and development to improve population health through indirect care. The PDS contributes to the overall success of the organization through leadership in the workforce strategies and patient care, service to patients and families, and working with others in the PDS role.
- Learning facilitator
- Uses the educational design process and adult learning principles to bridge the knowledge, skills, and/or practice gaps identified through learning needs assessment and evaluation of outcomes, including the development of initial and ongoing competency validation processes.
- Acquires and analyzes data from multiple sources to guide design of competencies and education to close identified gaps.
- Change agent
- Actively works to transform processes at micro, meso, and/or macro system levels.
- The PDS uses change management strategies and theories to drive desired outcomes.
- Uses evidence-based strategies for communicating, educating and facilitating changes in clinician practice and team behaviors.
- Mentor
- Advances the profession by contributing to the professional development of others and supporting ongoing professional learning as individuals develop across practice, professional, and educational settings.
- Supports the clinical and professional development of staff and colleagues through role modeling; may serve as a preceptor and mentor.

- Performs and communicates system level assessments to identify variables that influence nursing competency, training, and outcomes.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Nursing
- 3 years of Operating Room RN experience
- Experience in teaching, coaching, precepting, or training
- MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in Nursing or healthcare related field
- 1 year education experience
- Recognized ANCC certification in Nursing Specialty aligned to your area of practice
- ANPD Certification
