Candidate Location Requirement: Candidates must be current South Carolina residents. Relocation candidates will not be considered.

Position Overview: The consultant will provide technical guidance, recommend programming solutions, implement application changes, configure key system components, and lead minor DORWAY initiatives.
The position also supports the stability and integrity of application data and server services through monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrades, and optimization. Shared 24/7 on-call support may be required.
Required Skills

• 20+ years of professional development experience
• 20+ years of VB.NET experience
• 20+ years of SQL experience
• 20+ years of experience supporting state government tax systems

Preferred Skill

• GENTAX experience

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a senior developer and technical advisor to the DORWAY development team.
• Design, develop, configure, and implement application and programming changes.
• Provide technical direction, coding recommendations, and troubleshooting support.
• Lead minor DORWAY development and enhancement projects.
• Monitor, maintain, and optimize application, data, and server environments.
• Troubleshoot backup, recovery, software, and infrastructure-related issues.
• Develop temporary workarounds and permanent technical solutions.
• Perform software and equipment upgrades.
• Manage multiple issues and provide timely status updates to stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate help-desk documentation and respond promptly to customer tickets.
• Follow information-security standards and protect confidential taxpayer information.

Education
Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, information systems, or a related field, along with relevant information technology experience.
