Job Description (General Summary)

Intralox has a position available for a Controls Manufacturing Engineer. This position will be critical to the efficient translation of products from engineering development to manufacturing. Intralox Controls Manufacturing Engineers employ many designs for manufacturing (DFM) techniques such as part design optimization and product structuring for ease of assembly to prepare designs for production. Controls Engineers also work hand in hand with design engineers and manufacturing operations to develop lean processes for materials management, assembly, and shipping of products.

This team utilizes a variety of skill sets, development methodologies, and functional knowledge to accelerate the efficiency and scale of equipment production. This position will split time between our Hanover, Airport 100 and Sparrows Point offices.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements

Responsibilities:

• Develops manufacturing processes for controls products, such as machine control panels, by studying requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
• Works full time on the assembly floor to:
• Maintain and improve manufacturing automation and testing equipment.
• Assist in training and troubleshooting operators on controls related assemblies.
• Improve controls assembly processes
• Improves product design by using a variety of Design for Manufacturing techniques.
• Collaborate with design engineers and manufacturing operations to develop lean processes for controls assembly and testing.
• Employs Configuration Management (CM) principles to engineering documentation related to product release for manufacturing.
• Identifies cost savings opportunities through production process improvements.
• Acts as designated manufacturing engineer on product launch teams.
• Help develop & maintain production process documentation.
• Champion of lean practices and the Toyota Production System.
• Collaborate and coordinate with various team members including but not limited to Controls Engineers, Programmers, Project Managers, Assembly technicians, IT, and Warehouse personnel.

Requirements:

• Accredited B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience working with controls systems for modular plastic belting.
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with Allen-Bradley products.
• Previous experience with AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical.
• Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude with a willingness to both design and perform work in the shop.
• Ability to understand and work from electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Knowledge of commonly used controls engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Ability to understand manufacturer data sheets and apply them in practice.
• Ability to configure PLC's, HMI's, computers, networks, cameras, and variable frequency drives which are used to control sorters, conveyors, and other related equipment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• A self-managed individual who is a team player.
• Located in Maryland and work primarily at production facility
• Proficiency with 3D CAD modeling and 2D drawing.
• An understanding of mechanical and electrical product manufacturing and fabrication processes.
• Computer proficiency in MS office.
• Travel required (5%) for equipment installation, start-up or troubleshooting, and various training opportunities.
• Able and willing to work with tools in an industrial environment.

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience working with systems being used for the US Postal Service.
• Experience with design for manufacturing, inventory management, lean practices, and manufacturing methodologies.
• Experience in Configuration Management and Electro-mechanical design.
• Experience with Oracle ERP software, Windchill PLM, Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.

The position is eligible for one of the following: commissions, discretionary incentives, or production incentives according to the terms of those plans.

Salary Range: $75,300 to $192,300
