Summary Reporting to the Site Lead, the Tactical Operators shall provide instruction to four courses. Each of the four courses, Advanced Tactical Operators Course, Basic Tactical Operator Course, Advanced Marksmanship Instruction and Close Quarters Combat Instructors Course, are identified as High-Risk Training. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned) - Responsible for tasks assigned by SMTC Site Lead.
- Responsible for execution of training end user in support of USCG contract.
- Responsible for serving as an authoritative consultant in designing, preparing and delivering programs of instruction (POI) including lesson plans, evaluation plans and other related educational plans designed to train, assess, and sustain skills needed for the deployable specialized forces
- Instructors shall prepare classrooms, course equipment preparation and maintenance, range preparation for courses to include target builds, shoot house set up, flat range set ups and conduct/participate in all course workups.
- Responsible for conducting evaluations during formal institutional training, off site sustainment training, major training events and during exercises
- Provides instruction in both classroom setting, range operations and in a maritime environment during extreme weather (hot/cold) while wearing personal protective equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Responsible for providing daily feedback to students, maintaining student records and at times sitting on field safety boards and performance review boards
- Provide Tier I advanced Close Quarters Combat training, to include width and depth.
- Perform as Opposing Forces during High-Risk Training (HRT) courses that use marking cartridges for up to 10 opposing forces roles per day.
- Measure of Performance
- The Site Lead will establish performance metrics for the Special Missions Training Center Tactical Operations Instructor within the first thirty (30) days of employment.
- Within 90 days of hire, Tactical Operations Instructors must:
- Meet and maintain weapons certification requirements for the MK18, M870, and SIG P229, and specified courses of fire.
- Complete assigned course Core Unique Instructor Training requirement.
- Must successfully complete TRASYS Instructor PQS, and successfully pass periodic evaluations to meet TRACEN established currency requirements.
- Accomplishes a rating of “demonstrated competency” or better on the Coast Guard Instructor Feedback Form as measured annually.
- Receives no measure less than “3” on a scale of “5” for each of the 14 assigned instructor competencies.
- Demonstrates effective communication, collaboration, and teamwork with all Government and Contract team members.
- Completes and delivers tasks and work products in conformance to the USCG Training System Standard Operating Procedures.
Qualifications Must have all of the following experience: Five (5) years of Tactical Operations experience, to include close quarters combat training at a Tier I or Tier II level, or equivalent (CG MSRT/TACLET/MSST, SF, SEAL, MARSOC, FBI HRT, CBP-BORTAC, large metro- area SWAT, etc.); Five (5) years of experience as a close quarters combat instructor/trainer for a Tier I, Tier II level or equivalent (CG MSRT/TACLET/MSST, SF, SEAL, MARSOC, FBI HRT, CBPBORTAC, large metro-area SWAT, etc.) Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. work in extreme weather elements and wear full protective gear weighing up to 40 lbs. for full work day We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant foremployment because of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, status as a veteran, and basis of disability or any other federal, state, or local protected class.
